Built around stories of practice from Australia, New Zealand and America, this book raises questions and possibilities related to pedagogical documentation. As the introduction states; “people who choose to work in early childhood...want to explore their own practice and improve the work they are doing, learning from children, the community and each other...We designed this book to help the newer members of the professional community to gain access to the discussion, and also to engage those who have been thinking around these ideas for a longer period of time. Some people might enter this book as part of a course of study while others might dip into it individually or in groups to further their own thinking.”

Alma, Catherine and Janet have been colleagues for more than ten years at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Their studies in Reggio Emilia and their work with other professional colleagues informs their thinking about many things, including intersections between pedagogical documentation and social justice. Janet now works predominantly with young children at Mia Mia, the Child and Family Centre at the Institute of Early Childhood, while Catherine and Alma work primarily with undergraduate and postgraduate teachers.
