Reviews

Joy Lubawy is a storyteller. In Visions of Creativity she uses the real-life stories from her thirty years as Teaching/director in Australian early childhood centres so that the reader may share with her reflections on the ways we can encourage childrens creativity. Joy has used Howard Gardners Theory of Multiple Intelligence as the framework of the book so that creativity is now seen not only as being only for the artists and performers, but for every child. She has blended her thoughts and stories with responses to ideas from Reggio Emilia as well as other writers from the Emergent Curriculum school of thought. This book brings together a variety of theories and influences alongside the authors own research and experience. It connects philosophy, theories and practice alongside the development of a strong curriculum and is not just about child development, but about children discovering, theorising, experiencing, and learning. Easy to read, thoughtful and inspiring
